YAY, El Paso Electric is once more hosting their Summer Intern Program and making it available to Austin High School Junior Students! The 6 week internship is scheduled to run from June 15th - August 7th (M-F 9:30am - 3:30pm); interested students must be able to commit for this time frame. If interested in this opportunity you must:
1) Be a Junior who will be starting their Senior year of High School in August 2015
2) Have an overall GPA of 3.0 or above
3) Attend a Parent/Student Information Session (Student AND Parent or Legal Guardian must attend)
Scheduled for Tuesday, February 3rd at 6pm at Austin High School (other dates available at different school sites)
2) Respond to 2 essay prompts (See Summer 2015 Essay Prompts below)
3) Submit 2 letters of recommendation from a Teacher, Counselor and or previous/current employer(s)
4) Submit a Resume
5) Submit an application packet (signed by Parent or Legal Guardian)
6) Participate in 2 rounds of interviews with EP Electric HR Representative

1) It is a paid internship ($8.40/hour) plus free lunch
2) The opportunity to learn from and work alongside a great management team
3) Much desired transferable job skills
4) Valuable training opportunities that will enhance your leadership and communications skills

6) Work with and meet students from other El Paso and Las Cruces area High Schools
7) Have an exciting and productive summer that prepares you to be successful your Senior year and after HS Graduation!

Summer 2015 Essay Prompts
Interested applicants must provide an essay responding to two of the three essay prompts (1000 maximum word limit per essay) listed below:
1) Think back to a situation in your life where you had to decide between taking a risk and playing it safe. Which choice did you make? What was the outcome of your choice? Would you have made the same decision looking back on the experience or would you have made a different decision?
2) How will the summer internship at El Paso Electric help you achieve your future educational endeavors?
3) Describe how you have demonstrated leadership ability both in and out of school.
